I’ve got textbooks and case studies calling my name soon, but before fall semester officially kicks off, I’m savoring every quiet reading moment I can get. Whether I’m curled up on the couch or flipping pages during lunch, here are five books I’ve read recently (or have queued up) that I’m loving right now.
If you’re also squeezing in a few more “for fun” books before school or the busy season starts, this list is for you. Bonus: all of these are available on Amazon or through the Libby app if you’re team library like I am!
1. The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins
This one has juicy Southern secrets, family money, and a mysterious estate. Think: Gossip Girl meets ghost story, but make it grown-up. I’m still reading it and already hooked.
2. I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi
Not your average personal finance book. Ramit makes money feel approachable, judgment-free, and honestly? Kind of fun. Perfect for a back-to-school mindset reset if you’re trying to get your finances in shape.
3. The Women by Kristin Hannah
A powerful, emotional read that had me tearing up. It follows a female nurse during the Vietnam War and dives into forgotten parts of history. It’s haunting, raw, and one of the best I’ve read all year.
4. Hello Stranger by Katherine Center
Rom-com with heart! There’s an unusual twist (the main character can’t recognize faces 😳), and it leads to a sweet, unexpected love story. Light, charming, and exactly what I needed after a heavier read.
5. The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest
This one’s next up on my list. A collection of short reflections perfect for mornings with coffee or winding down at night. I’ve heard it’s grounding, wise, and a favorite for transitional seasons — aka exactly where I am right now.
